Will this ultrasound take the place of an ultrasound that is ordered by my doctor?
No. Your session with The Baby Connection does not replace any element of your prenatal care. It is required that you are under the active care of a physician or midwife and that your provider is aware of and has no objection to your ultrasound session with The Baby Connection. You must have already undergone a medical diagnostic ultrasound ordered by your provider and conformation will be required.
Is ultrasound safe?
Yes. Extensive studies over 30 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now a normal procedure. 3D/4D scanning uses exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound as in conventional 2D diagnostic scanning. 3D/4D sonogram utilizes sound waves to look inside the body. A probe placed on the abdomen (non-invasive) emits sound waves and absorbs the return echo to generate 3-dimensional (still) and 4-dimensional (video) images, similar to a conventional 2D scan in terms of exposure.
What is the best time during my pregnancy to have the ultrasound session?
|
24-34 weeks is generally the best time but this depends on how you would like to see your baby. Before 24 weeks, you can see more of the baby at once. From 24-40 weeks, you will see more facial detail. You also have the option of coming in for two separate ultrasound sessions that can capture both stages.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. You should try to schedule at least 2-3 weeks in advance. If you plan to have your session during your baby shower, you may want to schedule at least 4-6 weeks in advance.
How long will the appointment last?
The appointment times will vary and can last up to 45 minutes depending on the package you choose. The minutes indicated on the packages are the actual number of minutes your baby will be viewed. Your session does not start until we are viewing the baby.
Can I invite my family and friends to attend the appointment?
Absolutely! This experience is for you. Since The Baby Connection comes to you, you are in control of the atmosphere. During your planning, keep in mind that you want to provide enough space for your guests and The Baby Connection. You may discuss details when scheduling your session.
Will you be able to tell the sex of my baby?
In most cases the sex of the baby can be determined. In some cases, the baby may not cooperate for the session. Factors that affect the ability to determine sex include developmental stage and position of the baby.
Will I get beautiful pictures of my baby?
Usually, but sometimes the position of the baby will prevent it. Every baby’s scan is different and it cannot be guaranteed to meet everyone’s expectations. Every effort will be made to obtain the best images possible of your baby.
What type of ultrasound equipment do you use?
To accommodate mobility, The Baby Connection uses the Voluson i which is a compact volume ultrasound system with incredible image quality. The Voluson i is the first of it’s kind and we are proud to bring this technology into your home for the purpose of an emotionally bonding experience for you and your family.
How much will it cost?
The cost will vary according to the package you pick. Please refer to package prices. click here
Do you accept insurance?
Because this is an elective ultrasound, it is not currently covered by insurance. The Baby Connection accepts Visa, Master Card, Discover and cash payments. Checks and money orders are accepted in advance and must clear the bank prior to the scheduled session.
